Concrete Laborer

Responsibilities

As a Concrete Laborer:

• Use a jackhammer; Shoveling; Rakes concrete
• Utilizes hand-held concrete saw
• Clean & oil forms prior to pouring
• Checks sub-grade (basic-string line to grade)
• Sets forms for sidewalk, curb & gutter (straight & curved)
• Set steel reinforcement in pavement; forms for driveways; catch basins & manholes
• Properly position of expansion for curb, sidewalks, etc.
• Understand: Digger’s Hotline markings; Safety manual & adheres to it
• Understand manual vs. machine work when grading for sidewalk & curb
• Reads blueprints at beginning level
• Uses compactor properly
• Knows proper sequence to prepare sub-grade
• Majority of field work, may be on your feet most of the working day, may require some heavy lifting, some operation of equipment may be required
• Reading, writing, basic math skills
